Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Understanding OCD

OCD involves persistent, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) performed to reduce anxiety. While many people experience intrusive thoughts, OCD causes these thoughts to become overwhelming, often disrupting daily life, work, and relationships.

At SOS Wellness, we understand how exhausting and isolating OCD can be. Our compassionate, evidence-based approach combines mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and individualized care to help you manage anxiety, reduce compulsive behaviors, and improve emotional regulation. We’re here to help you break free from OCD’s grip and move toward a more balanced, fulfilling life.

Symptoms OCD

OCD symptoms can vary in intensity, but common signs include:

Obsessions (Unwanted Thoughts)

  • Intrusive, unwanted, and distressing thoughts about harm, contamination, or other concerns.

  • Persistent worries or fears that are hard to dismiss.

  • A need for certainty or perfection in certain situations.

Compulsions (Repetitive Behaviors)

  • Repetitive actions such as handwashing, checking, or counting, often performed to reduce anxiety.

  • Arranging or organizing items in specific ways, following a ritualistic pattern.

  • Mental rituals, like silently repeating phrases or prayers to alleviate distress.

These obsessions and compulsions can interfere with daily activities. Many individuals with OCD feel compelled to perform rituals, even when they know their actions are irrational.
